Gadgets windows sidebar not working

This time the gadgets were back, but screwed up in the same way. Knowing that all of this started with a late version of IE 11, I went to the control panel and uninstalled IE After a reboot, I was back on IE 8 and all gadgets worked fine. Even the long gone clock was back up there. I considered upgrading to IE 10, but I found that there were too many people having trouble with IE 10 on Win 7, by looking on the internet. With fingers crossed, I upgraded to IE 9. All gadgets still work fine.

This is where I will stay on my Windows 7, 32 bit system until either you or some other genius figures how to fix IE I have found an answer: Essentially, IE has a bug.

Until this bug is fixed, we have 2 options to be able to have our gadgets. About a third of the way down the thread you'll find a proposed answer by blogthis. It is lengthy or I would quote it here. So far I have only tried Option 1 on Windows 10 and I am most happy to say that it works beautifully. But it does look like Option 2 will be better, so I will try it next, when I get a chance. Hopefully the directions which are for Win7 will also work on Win Neither option will actually fix IE11's bug, but we do get our gadgets back.

As Windows 10 Technical Preview is still in developmental stage, you may expect some compatibility issues as of now and some features or settings might not work as expected.

As this is in developmental stage, ensure to keep the computer up to date with all Windows Updates. Windows Update is a package which provides a collection of performance and reliability improvements. Windows Update helps keep your PC safer—and your software current—by fetching the latest security and feature updates from Microsoft via the Internet.

Important updates help improve the security of Windows and your computer, and they should be installed. Optional updates often are updated device drivers or program updates that aren't critical to their operation.

You can install optional drivers if they add features such as additional languages or if you are having problems with an existing device or program. Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

I recommend you join the Windows Insider Program to get more frequent preview builds and send your feedback straight to the people building Windows. Members of the Windows Insider Program can provide feedback about the Tech Preview directly to our engineers by using the Windows Feedback app.
