Your receiver display must be connected to the same wireless network as your computer to use Miracast's screen mirroring feature.
If you're not sure how to connect your computer to a wireless network, you can look it up for Windows 10 , Windows 8 or Windows 7 here. Setting up your projector, monitor or TV will vary from device to device.
You can refer to your display's manual for specific instructions. Open your computer's Start menu. Find and click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of your computer's desktop to open the Start menu. Click the gear icon on the bottom-left corner. This button is located above the Power icon in the lower-left corner of your Start menu. It will open your Windows settings in a new window. Click Devices in the Settings window. This will open your device and connection settings.
This option is at the top of the navigation panel on the left-hand side of your Settings window. It will open your connection options. Select Wireless display or dock on the "Add a device" menu. This will scan your network, and list all the available display devices you can use to mirror your screen. Make sure your screen receiver is turned on, and connected to the same wireless network as your computer.
Otherwise, you won't see it on the menu here. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Mike CK. Hi, I have been trying to get my TV to display exactly what is on my computer screen aka "mirror" setting as I understand it. After I apply the new settings I get my desktop background on my TV but without any icons, startup menu, etc..
I'm aware that the desktop is just extended into the TV monitor. There is no option where i can set it to "mirror display" or anything like that. Underneath these options, which seem to be inconsequential no matter which one i choose, there are two greyed-out boxes, both checked off, that cannot be selected or altered which read " This is my main monitor" and " Extend the desktop onto this monitor".
Now if only i could uncheck the second option I suspect my problem would be solved. I have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers. In the new operating system, for example, the process for projecting your computer screen to a TV has changed. The new process is similar to the way it worked in Windows 8, but not identical. Most computers that come with Windows 8 or Windows 10 and Intel processors have WiDi support, but computers that upgrade from Windows 7 may not.
If you're not sure whether your computer supports WiDi, the best way to find out is to just go ahead and try mirroring your screen with the process described below and see if it works. This dongle, and similar USB transmitters from other manufacturers, let machines without WiDi broadcast as though they did have the technology.
